About me

My name is Randy Coard.  I am a private investor in search of deep value investment opportunities in the public markets.  It’s rare to find deep value opportunities in large companies, so my focus is primarily in the small and micro-cap area.  My educational background is in Finance and I spent 28 years at Whirlpool Corporation working in Accounting and Finance.  My last several years were spent in Corporate Finance where my primary responsibility was preparing the CFO for Board Meetings and quarterly earnings releases along with the communication with the analyst community who followed the company.  This gave me a great perspective as someone who is now researching companies from the outside.  As Warren Buffett has said “I’m a better businessman because I’m an investor and I’m a better investor because I’m a businessman”.

My goal since High School was to retire early and spend my time managing our personal portfolio.  It was never traditional retirement (fishing, golfing, gardening) that motivated me.  I was motivated to leave the corporate world so my time could be spend doing what I loved.  Everyone needs to define success for themselves.  For some, it’s status, wealth, owning their own company etc.  My definition of success is being able to spend your time doing what you love.
